Pre-Trip Service: How to Prepare Your Car for a 5000+ km Journey

Mechanics Over Aesthetics

Before investing in new curtains, ensure the heart of your van is in perfect shape. A long journey is an extreme test for your vehicle's components.

  • Fluids and Filters: Even if you have 3000 km left until your next service, do it now. Fresh oil handles high mountain temperatures much better.
  • Braking System: Pads and discs must be in top condition. Remember, a fully loaded van weighs much more than a car, putting extra stress on brakes.
  • Tires: Check the tread and the age of the tires. Rubber older than 6 years might not withstand the heat of Southern Europe.
  • Lights and Wipers: Small details that define visibility during heavy rain. Always keep a spare set of bulbs in your glove box.
